- Meet the Owners:
Nick interrupted his studies in Agricultural Biotechnology at WSU to come back to the farm and guide Orange State to the next level. He is currently completing his Medical Marijuana Consultant Certification, and you’ll recognize him ‘cuz he’s the guy with the predatory organisms crawling out of his pockets!
Thomas has a long family history of growing, and if you’ve been involved in the cannabis biz on the East Side of the State, you have already met him. This is the guy with the experience, and as many times as he’s been told how things should work ‘theoretically’, well, we would have to say he has got a hell of a lot of patience!
Bernie is the old man who polices the compliance details, takes care of HR issues, and in general takes most of the fun out of this venture. Because he’s also an Engineer, he gets to do fun stuff like make Excel spreadsheets, dig footing ditches and press irrigation fittings together.
Katie is first and foremost the person who keeps the other three in line. She’s also the money lady, and unless you have a solid justification for buying something, don’t even bother wasting your, or her, time! Katie is also the person who interfaces with the Retailers. It always amazes us how she can be so mean to us and so nice to the Retailers!
Then there’s the farm dog, a Papillon named Lacey. She’s deaf and mostly blind, but her sense of smell still works – she spends most of her time in her basket, inhaling all those wonderful terpenes…..
The Owners are a tight group of friends and family, with all the drama and ups and downs associated with that – not gonna lie! We started this thing from scratch, a dream, and hard work, and we know where every cable is run and every pipe and body buried! When you call or drop us a line, you will hear from one of the Owners.
- 95%+ of income is reinvested into Orange State facilities. For 2017, the big-ticket item we budgeted for is the conversion of our outdoor canopy to greenhouses.
- Although oil production is in our long term plans, we will quite often sell our trim or small buds to high quality oil producers. When it makes sense and meets our strict standards, we will split the oil production from our material with the processor and sell it through the Orange State Cannabis brand.
